The Highland Hose Company recently
held their annual inspection dinner at the
Poughkeepsie Grand, beginning with an
invocation by Firefighter Fred DeMaio,
in part, “We thank you, our heavenly
Father, for our good Chiefs that keep
us out of harm’s way and make good
level-headed decisions and thank you
for the Ladies Auxiliary that we have a
great relationship with and always love
working with and we thank you for the
mutual aid companies that answer the
call and work with well. We ask for your
continued blessing over all of the various
things that work and everything that we
do.”

John Gallagher (L) was honored for answering 237 calls, the most in 2017. Kevin Rizzo was
presented with a leather firefighter helmet for his service to the department as a Lieutenant
and Captain.
On Sunday, April 29, the Hamlet of Milton Association (HMA) initiated the annual Milton
cleanup event. Numerous community volunteers came out to assist in removing litter
from the streets of Milton. Volunteers included members of the Boy and Girl Scouts in the
Marlboro/Milton area.
Robert Kunkel is a 4th grade student at Marlboro Elementary School and a Weblo of Boy
Scout Pack 72. His sister, Amanda Bliss Kunkel is a 6th grade student at Marlboro Middle
School and a Cadette in Troop 60174 of Girl Scouts Apple Valley Service Unit 608. The siblings
participated in the Milton community cleanup by picking up trash along the Milton Landing
Park area. While there, Amanda found a pair of car keys in the parking area near the Milton
train station building. The keys have been brought to the Marlboro Police Department in
hopes that the owner of the keys will claim them.
