that engages with the city of Liverpool , and also projects that straddle the divide between creative and critical : a curation of documentary films , a delirious ‘ transcription ’ of an hours-long live stream . There is also a rich vein of work that critically assesses the place of social and other media in our lives and in our politics . I was especially pleased to see near the end of the anthology an essay about music and video games . This is an area where we have been teaching for many years , and now in 2021 we are launching in the School of the Arts a BSc Game Design and a BA Game Design Studies .
If you are reading this anthology online , you will also be able to link through to a short film produced by students in the School of Architecture reflecting on our relation to our built environment during the pandemic . This is an important reminder that not all student work in the School takes the form of essays or can even be put in a print anthology . For example , in the Music Department , performances and sound recordings make up a crucial part of student work , and we have recently launched a student record label , Merciful Sounds , which released its first ever EP on May 4th 2021 .
Also , in June every year , Architecture hosts its Annual Degree Show where you can see the fruits of the year ’ s studio work . For the past two years this showcase has been online , and you can visit it here : https :// www . virtual-lsa . uk /.
And from 2022 we look forward to hosting a showcase of live student performances in the stunning new Tung Auditorium , due to open shortly after the publication of this anthology .
As ever , I am very grateful to Georgina Everett for her careful stewardship of this Anthology through to publication . Funding from the Undergraduate Research Scheme allowed us to appoint our two excellent student editors , Scarlett Anderton and Esme Smithson .
