MMAT IN U MARRIAGE
a verse that gets quoted often but
seldom realized. We even purposely
put it on our wedding invitations but
were completely oblivious to its true
meaning: “A man shall leave his
father and his mother and hold fast
to his wife, and they shall become
one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). You’re
probably thinking you’ve got this one
in the bag. But hold up. Let’s pause
and talk about some of the ways
in which spiritual immaturity delays
or prevents married couples from
becoming “one flesh.”
Addressing Spiritual Immaturity
When people hear our story, they
often ask if we were ready to
get married. In short, no. But we
believe that marriage forges a
certain level of maturity, even for
those who “aren’t ready.” We were
young Christians trying to figure
out how to be in a mature, godly
relationship. Things were tough. To
say we fought like cats and dogs is
an understatement. Let’s just say if
we had had our own reality TV show
back then, our ratings would’ve
