A. & Elicia Horton By Trisha Taylor and Jim Herrington with John Sparks OVERCOMING SPIRITUAL IM We’re millennials, we’re married, and we’ve been in ministry for ten of our fifteen years of marriage. To some, our profile spells a recipe for disaster; yet by God’s grace, He’s privileged us with a nuanced approach to this thing called life, marriage, and everything in between. We want to take time to share from our life experiences in order to challenge and encourage those struggling to understand the consistent problems couples face today, especially as it relates to oneness. 12 Solutions Barriers to Oneness We married young and approached our twenties exhausted from drama and hurts we had overlooked. Next, add our passive-aggressive tendencies to the pot and throw in the reality of spiritual immaturity. Oh! And we can’t forget the family structures that were hindering oneness, though we hadn’t identified these as barriers. We fought for our own identity, not realizing that God was trying to create a brand-new one for us. Let’s stop and think about
