Fall has arrived.
Speakers
On Wednesday, October 24th, Luke Wassom General Manager from Sargent Pipe in Broken Bow spoke to our juniors and seniors.
He shared his journey of how he became GM, some job expectations of employees and how to be a forward thinker to succeed.
November 1st will be our first Lunch and Learn session. Jeff Bexten, Diesel Technology Instructor at Central Community College
in Hastings will be here to discuss his program with students interested in diesel technology. He will meet with students over their
lunch time to discuss the skill sets students need to be successful at CCC, what the CCC graduate needs to take to the workplace,
what graduates can expect from the workplace, and answer any questions about the program with the time remaining. Please con-
tact Mrs. Poland if you or someone at your workplace would like to present at a Lunch and Learn.
Tours/Activities
Litchfield’s sophomore class received a tour of Central Community College-Hastings campus on October 24, 2018.. They got to
see what a dorm room looked like, visited the Student Union where meals are served, and walked a lot.
Connect the Dots: On Thursday, November 15, 2018, the Freshman class will be travelling to Ord to participate in the Connect the
Dots Career exploration workshop put on by UNL’s Extension service. Students will participate in a career simulation activity,
meet with employers in career fields, listen to Postsecondary speakers, and work on resume building skills.
ACT Test Dates
Registered for December 8th ACT test? If not, deadline is November 2nd. Go to www.act.org to register. Remember to study
with our OnToCollege ACT Test preparation. Some students may qualify for an ACT fee waiver. Please have your student con-
tact Mrs. Poland to inquire. Seniors, remember to use the John Baylor OnToCollege website to review for your ACT test. Juniors,
see Mrs. Poland to get a jump on studying for your ACT tests.
Congratulations to Christopher Paitz on his acceptance to UNL, UNK, NCTA, Doane College, and Concordia Universi-
ty. Congratulations to Siarah Willenberg on her acceptance to UNK and UNL.
Scholarships
There is a scholarship opportunity for students taking dual-enrollment college courses. Students participating in dual-enrollment
college courses or early admit programs, are encouraged to apply or the Access College Early (ACE) Scholarship if they show fi-
nancial need. This state and federally-funded scholarship will pay tuition and mandatory fees at participating Nebraska colleges.
Applications will be reviewed by Nebraska’s Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education (CCPE). If you have ques-

Prepare for the FAFSA with free programs and resources
If you’re a senior, it’s time to start preparing for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). You’ll complete the form
after October 1 and typically, before April 1 depending on your college’s priority deadline. Colleges will use your FAFSA results
to determine how much they will award you in federal, state and college-based financial aid.

Education Quest’s Financial Aid Night (Junior/Senior parents) was held on Monday, October 8, 2018. Topics dis-
cussed were How to Pay for College, information about completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and
how to read an award letter from a college. Those in attendance were happy they were there as it calmed a few fears of the FAFSA
application process.
