Mother’ s Day is about honoring motherhood in different forms throughout the world. Mother’ s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and Mother’ s day became an official U. S. holiday in 1914. Jarvis denounced mother’ s day from commercialization and then tried to remove it from the calendar. The dates and celebrations can vary, Mother’ s Day mostly falls on the second Sunday in May. Mother’ s Day usually means that you present your mom with flowers, cards and other gifts. Here are some ideas for gifts that you can get your mom:
� Flowers
� A card
� Homemade things
� Necklace
� Quiet time
� Help her around the house
� Pick up the house without her asking you to
� Show your love Make sure you show your mom how much you appreciate her this Mother’ s Day- after all, without her, you wouldn’ t even be here!

Leonie Krahn is our foreign exchange student this year. At first she wanted to move to a bigger school. There are positives and negatives about being in a small school. She said that in a small school you are able to get to know everyone better and the teachers can help you understand your classes more. Leonie said her biggest challenge of being here was getting used to her surroundings since we live in the middle of nowhere. Since we are in a small school Leonie was able to be involved in many extracurricular activities. The extracurricular activities she was involved in were volleyball, basketball, track, dance, cheer, one act, speech, choir, and FBLA. Leonie isn’ t able to say what her favorite thing has been because there are so many things that she really liked. She enjoyed the extracurricular activities, school dances( especially prom), going to the big apple, husker games, visiting South Dakota and many more. Leonie hopes that she won’ t forget anything about her time spent in Litchfield. She hopes that she will stay in touch with her friends and even get opportunities to come back and visit.
