NEW TEACHERS MAKE LEARNING FUN AT SLAS

There are many new teachers at Shanghai Livingston
American School (SLAS) this year in the high school
as well as elementary school. What can we learn about
them? What can we learn from them? There are always
many interesting things to learn from different
teachers. However, there is not enough time to get
to know everyone, but two teachers agreed to speak
about how they can motivate us to get to know them
better. The history teacher, Mr. Chris Stewart, shared
his story about how he became a teacher. to achieve it, then opportunity will come. Those who
want to set a goal for the future and accomplish it may
be able to get much inspiration by talking to Mr.
Stewart. The new Chinese teacher Ms. Gaby Zhang
shared her opinion on what attitude we should have
to learn better. “Focusing on your study and the right
attitude are the most important things,” said Ms. Gaby.
She also said, “I want to have more chance to improve
myself, so I came to a city like Shanghai where there
are many opportunities for self improvement.”
“My dad has been a teacher all his life, and I had many
teachers who encouraged me enjoy school,” said Mr.
Chris Stewart the new history teacher at SLAS. Also
he added, “When I was prepared to graduate
university, I had an offer from a professor who asked
me to go to China, so I decided to go to Shanghai.
Since then, I got into a program to earn a master
degree for teaching, and after that I came to SLAS.” The teachers at SLAS always work hard to improve
their skills by having meetings, professional
development and going to special training. Many of
our teachers also spend their free time learning how
to be a better teacher and how to make an interesting
lesson for us. That’s why students need to pay
attention to what the teacher is saying, and respect
them. Then you can see improvement.
Mr. Stewart set a goal to become a teacher when he
was younger. He got a teaching degree to prepare
for his job. As he mentioned, if you set a goal and plan
