TO BE WISER THROUGH BOOKS
BY JOE WU
Recently, Shanghai Livingston American School
(SLAS) organized a book fair event. It involved
reconnecting with the record of human knowledge,
and with the way people used to trade. This event
was called the Book Fair and it only went on for two
days, from October 13th to October 14th.
Mr. Zeng Wei, a salesman from Shanghai Book Traders
(SBT) said, “The main purpose of this fair was to let
the students buy foreign books easier in China.” He
added, “Our products are diverse, from children’s
story books to novels and fiction, as well as
stationary.”
This year, the Book Fair started from 8:30am to 5pm.
It was located at the multi-purpose room on the first
floor. The SBT successfully organized the event. The
clean and organized layout helped people to find the
books they wanted. Each table in the fair had a
different category. The books were favored by
different groups of people. Primary students would

prefer to buy children’s books and comics like Legos
and Children’s Book of Philosophy. Secondary
students would prefer to read novels like Hunger
games and Harry Potter. There was also interesting
books like The Act of Film Magic and many others.
There were many books with eye catching graphics
as well.
Mr. Zeng Wei also said, “This event was formed by an
outside organization SBT, and the Principal Martinez
allowed it.” He added, “The price of the books
depended on what kind they are, from 28RMB to
500RMB.”
This year, many students and teachers were eager to
attend the Book Fair and bought books directly from
the event. People were satisfied by the wide and
diverse types of books. This was the fifth book fair on
the SLAS campus, and our campus community hopes
to participate in the book fair event next fall.
