INTRODUCING
The All-New 2020 Subaru Legacy
Following its global debut at the 2019 Chicago Auto
Show, the all-new Subaru Legacy touched down at the 2019
Canadian International Auto Show from February 15-24 in
Toronto. The completely reengineered seventh-generation
version of this popular sedan will be on sale from coast-to-
coast later this year.
There are countless changes to the new model compared to
last year’s model, starting from the ground up. For the first
time, the Legacy rides on the new Subaru Global Platform,
which has been further strengthened to deliver increased
levels of comfort, control and safety. The new platform has
also resulted in reduced noise, increased passenger space and
greater cargo capacity.
The exterior design follows the Subaru “Dynamic x Solid”
philosophy, which creates a more striking look that conveys
motion even when the Legacy is parked. Inside the cabin,
higher-grade materials are on display throughout the entire
space; this theme is punctuated when the car is equipped with
the available 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment
system, which functions like a smartphone or tablet.
Under the skin, the all-new Legacy features the choice
of two new SUBARU BOXER® engines, either a naturally
aspirated direct-injection 2.5L 4-cylinder or a turbocharged
direct-injection 2.4L 4-cylinder. The engines are linked to
different versions of the Lineartronic CVT, both powertrains
engineered for optimal response and efficiency. Of course,
the Legacy also comes standard with the legendary Subaru
Symmetrical Full-Time AWD system, here augmented by
active torque vectoring for the first time.
The Legacy has been an IIHS Top Safety Pick for 14
years in a row (2006-2019*) and the all-new version is
a safe bet to continue this esteemed tradition. The 2020
Subaru Legacy will come standard with the award-winning
Subaru EyeSight® Driver-Assist Technology. It will also be
available with the award-winning DriverFocus Distraction
Mitigation System.
