A STRONG statement on lasting value
In the 2020 ALG Canadian Residual Value Awards ,
Subaru vehicles figured prominently among the winners . Three vehicles , the Subaru Crosstrek , Impreza and WRX / STI , ran away with segment victories , while the Subaru brand also placed well . ALG is the industry benchmark for projecting future residual values and depreciation data ; this latest award competition honoured the 2020 vehicles that are predicted to hold their value better than others in the segment .
The Subaru Impreza was named the Best Compact Car for the fourth consecutive year and the 10th time over the past 12 years . In the two years that the Impreza didn ’ t capture this award , it finished in second place — a strong statement on how the Impreza continues to hold its value over the long haul .
In the Sports Car segment , the Subaru WRX / WRX STI was named king of the hill for the fifth straight year and the ninth time overall . Despite the fact that these authentic sports sedans tend to attract a more spirited sort of driver , their robust engineering and build quality see them retain their value for years .
The Subaru Crosstrek is yet another repeat winner , having captured the ALG award for Best Subcompact Utility for the fifth consecutive time . Since being introduced in Canada for the 2014 model year , the Crosstrek has never finished outside the top-three in its segment .
“ Our strategic planning always includes providing long-lasting value to our customers ,” said SCI chairman , president and CEO Yasushi Enami . “ Awards like these give us confidence that our goals are being achieved .”
While other Subaru vehicles didn ’ t manage to win in their respective segments this year , the entire fleet performed strongly across the board . The Subaru Ascent finished second in the Midsize Utility 3rd Row Seating reckoning and the Subaru Outback finished second in the Midsize Utility 2nd Row Seating category .
The Subaru Legacy also finished second in its segment , Midsize Sedan , extending its streak to six consecutive top-two finishes . Lastly , the Subaru Forester finished third in the Compact Utility segment for the second consecutive year , while the BRZ captured second in the Sports Car segment , the seventh top-three finish since it first appeared for the 2013 model year .
The annual ALG Canadian Residual Value Awards recognize the mainstream brand vehicles that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original value after a four-year period . In addition to the individual model awards , Subaru has also earned the Best Resale Value for any mainstream brand over the last 10 years , cumulatively . This title takes into consideration the resale value of a brand ’ s entire fleet , so it shines the spotlight on superior engineering across the board .
