Welcome to the Fall 2020 issue !
In normal times , this message celebrates the fact that we live in a country filled with natural beauty and the spirit of adventure . These are not normal times — in fact , far from it . But we can still take comfort in knowing that people across Canada have not let the COVID-19 pandemic dim their spirit .
With this issue , we honour this spirit and shift our focus to recapturing our love of the Canadian road trip , especially from behind the wheel of a vehicle engineered specifically for adventure .
Our cover story on Prince Edward County ( PEC ) perfectly encapsulates the collective desire of Canadians to escape , even if it ’ s to somewhere not so far away . Located in eastern Ontario , not far from Toronto or Montréal , PEC has become a top destination for city dwellers looking to slow down , just for the weekend or for a longer , more restorative spell . The area is known for its beautiful scenery , stunning beaches and burgeoning food scene , so we were thrilled to be able to capture these qualities in this feature article .
The other cover star of this issue is the brand-new 2021 Subaru Crosstrek , a class-leading subcompact utility vehicle that ’ s been further refined for the new model year . In our Technical Brief , you can read more about the latest Crosstrek and why it ’ s a more compelling crossover than ever before .
As always , the issue also features other great articles . From a cultural perspective , we have a profile of a superb Japanese-Canadian artist , San Murata , who expertly captures the natural beauty of the landscape , whether that happens to be in Canada or in Japan . Another of our articles celebrates cultural exploration of a different kind ; it ’ s a story on the legendary Poutine Trail in Manitoba , an area south of Winnipeg where this French-Canadian delicacy is given a unique Prairie-style twist .
We also have a feature story on different outdoor skills training programs in the country , programs that are teaching people how to explore the Canadian wilderness in greater depth and with increased skill .
Elsewhere , we take a closer look at three vehicles that are extremely well-suited to adventure of all shapes and sizes — the 2021 Subaru Ascent , Forester and Impreza . Whether you ’ re craving a quick escape from the city , a long weekend getaway or a longer Canadian road trip , there ’ s a new Subaru vehicle ready to answer the call .
In our Subaru360 section , you can also read about all the many awards and accolades picked up by our vehicles since the start of the year — it ’ s truly rewarding to see so many third parties recognizing the value of our brand and our vehicles . Lastly , the Star Customer for this issue is , in actuality , three different stars : a trio of Subaru owners who were among the courageous group of Canadian first-responders at the start of the pandemic .
In closing , we hope that you enjoy this issue of Six Star and that it provides some much needed inspiration as we continue along in our journey towards healing and in our pursuit of new adventures . This is a time of great challenge and great change . At Subaru , we are here to help support our customers in any way possible and , of course , to provide you with vehicles engineered for superior safety , capability and reliability . Please stay safe and enjoy the drive .
