Women folk costumes
The typical women's folk costume is made up of:
A “fadedda”, a long linen/cotton skirt, fastened to the waist by a belt, combined with a petticoat;
A “jippuni” a heavy blouse in the same fabric of the fadedda;
A dyed handkerchief on the shoulders fastened to the by a pin to the chest;
an apron;
blu tights;
black shoes;
a handkerchief on the head;
In some areas of the island women used to wear the “cativellu” or the “amuscinu”, a black silk handkerchief worn on the head hanging down to the knees.
