They have limited distribution in Indian Ocean, Tapti and Godavari rivers. These are old monkey in world. They are 35 to 60 centimetres long and the tail of this animal is 35 to 70 centemetres long. The weight of males is around 5 to 9 kilograms while females are 3 to 5 kilograms in weight. They can live upto 35 to 37 years. These animals are feeds on nuts, flowers, invertebrates, cereals, fruits and seeds. South Indian species feeds on foods that given by human. They have wide range of behaviors and gestures that can easily differenti- ated. Their one of the most common behaviors is lip smacking. The Bonnet Macaque shares linear dominanceĀ like other macaques. In the troops the alpha male is most dominant. The beta males and gamma males follow the dominance of alpha male. The dominance of females is stable and rarely changes whilst malesā€™ dominance is very dynamic. A male trying of obtaining high rank in his prime age, because high ranking male have first access to breeding females.
