T he spotted owlet is small owlet in owl family. The scientific name of this bird is Athene Brama. These birds breeds in tropical Asia, mainly in India to South East Asia. Their common resident is open habitats like farmland and human habitation but they’re adapt to living cities. The spotted owlets are seeing in groups in forest, trees, building or cavi- ties of rocks. They are laid 3 to 5 eggs in their nest, nest are built in buildings, human habitations, trees etc. The spotted owlets are small birds with 8 to 9 inches in size. The upperparts are spotted whites and grey brown coloured. They have streaked brown and white underparts. The iris is yellow and facial disc is pale, white neckband. They are widely distributed in India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Cambo- dia, Vietnam, Thailand etc but the some species are not found in all. There species are mostly seems in night but sometimes they seen in day time on trees in pair or group. They are hunts different types of insects and small vertebrates, bats, small snakes, toads, scorpions, molluscs etc. The call is louder and they call at just earlier or after sunset.
