Eighth Grade Test Prep Class Mrs. Carlucci’s Book Club Teacher: Arlene Carlucci, SHS Teacher Grades: Kindergarten, 1 st & 2 nd Dates: Wednesdays, September 12 – October 17 (6 weeks) Time: 3:30 – 4:30 pm Fees: $168 + $15 materials fee = $183 Minimum Enrollment: 5; Maximum Enrollment: 20 Using a Caldecott Award winning picture book, club members will be introduced to the broad concepts of participating in a book club. At the start of each meeting, Mrs. Carlucci will read with club members from a selection of Caldecott honored picture books. A short discussion on characters, theme, art medium and color are some of the areas that might be discussed. A craft project and special snack that ties in with the book will complete the book club experience. Mrs. Carlucci has been involved in a Mother/Daughter Book Club with her own daughters since 1996. Her book club was even featured in the New York Times Magazine! She is passionate about children’s books and is excited to share that enthusiasm with your child! Teachers: David Gusaas, Middle School Math Teacher and Katie Lowry, Middle School Humanities Teacher Grades: 8 th Only Dates: Tuesdays & Thursday, October 2 - November 20 Class Schedule can be viewed on the Sacred Heart webpage under Student Life/After School Program Times: 3:40-4:40pm Tuesdays & Thursdays Fees: $230 (this includes cost of books used in course which will be distributed the 1 st day of class) Test Prep for 8 th graders will be offered twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:40-4:40p.m. Starting October 2 – November 20. The class book to be used is The Princeton Review: Cracking the SSAT & the ISEE. The cost of the book will be included in the registration fee. This class is specifically designed for 8 th grade students who are preparing to take high school entrance exams. Students are expected to attend class both days! LEGO Team K-2 Wednesday After School Classes Teacher: Brittany Gibson, Kindergarten Teacher (Dolphins) Grades: Kindergarten, 1 st & 2 nd Dates: Wednesdays, September 12 – October 17 (6 weeks) Time: 3:30 - 4:15 p.m. Fees: $168 + $60 materials fee = $228 Minimum Enrollment: 5; Maximum Enrollment: 25 Attention all kindergarten, first and second grade boys and girls! Come join Ms. Gibson and build a LEGO creation every week to take home! A different LEGO theme will be explored each class. No building experience is required. Come prepared to have fun with your peers, learn building tips and tricks, as well as discuss LEGO news! Cartoon Drawing Teacher: Diana Cortez, Primary School Art Teacher Grades: Kindergarten, 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd , 4 th & 5 th Dates: Wednesdays, September 12 – October 17 (6 weeks) Times: 3:45 – 5:00 p.m. Fees: $168 + $40 materials fee = $208 Minimum Enrollment: 5; Maximum Enrollment: 25 If you love to doodle and draw funny characters (or have ever wanted to) this class is for you. Students will learn the fundamentals of cartooning by creating their own group of cartoon characters, building confidence with their fine motor skills through sketch, drawings and coloring.
