founded by 3 guys,
mainly Willie Van
Biljon
(founder),
Dawood bay (Co-Founder) and Jerome
mazibuko (Co-Founder).
This is an online internet radio based in
Johannesburg in
East Rand, Alra
Park,broadcasting every Fridays.
Interviewer: How would you describe
what an internet radio is to someone who
does not know what it is?
Alra Park: An Internet radio is a rado station
that can be accessed via internet.
Interviewer: How do you get the word out
about your internet based radio station?
Alra Park: We mainly use social media
mainly facebook and twitter, as well as word
of mouth and our annual events we do around
east rand and we broadcast live and interact
with the crowd.
Interviewer: Since when have you owned
this internet based radio station?
Alra Park: We can proudly say a year and
few weeks of hard work and struggles.
Interviewer: How has the public
responded to the internet radio station?
Alra Park: We are rapidly growing and the
public is very open and accepting to what we
broad cast, and we have gain a steady
followership from all over south African as
well as a few international listeners.
Interviewer: Is an internet based radio sta-
tion a 24Hour broadcasting house such as
the traditional radio station?
Alra Park: We have not received any
sponsorship or finance so we fund everything
from our pockets we only broadcast every
Friday between 9 and 12 Pm.
Interviewer: What has starting an internet
based radio station helped you with?
Alra Park: As we are deejays, we have grown our
fan base and have learnt how a radio show is run,
and our knowledge has grown due to the vast
house music mixes that are submitted weekly to
us.
Interviewer: Any difficulties you can highlight
along this journey?
Alra Park: Well, there are a lot but will only
mention a few, late submissions, internet server is
sometimes down meaning we have to cancel
shows, sometimes our internet server is very slow
due to overcrowding making it difficult to stream,
and some people still are not aware as to how to
access or listen to our radio station.
Interviewer: We all know that starting any
project is a bit of a costly affair. How did you
source the funds to start and keep your project
going?
Alra Park: Well we haven‟t ventured into sourcing
funds and everything we do is funded by ourselves,
it‟s our way of giving back to the community, we
struggle a lot but we have come this far and we in
the process of getting help or funds.
