ouse365Radio is an
internet based radio
station that was founded on
the 10th of June 2012. The
founder and only member
of House365 is Sebusiso
Mbatha from
Newcastle
(KZN). House365Radio is a South
African
House Music internet radio station. Playing
Deep House Music, Soulful House,
Afro
House Mixes and music from upcoming
artists,Dj’s/Producers. Broadcasting 24/7 with
scheduled mixes/shows every Wednesday,
Thursday and Sundays.
Interviewer: How would you describe what an
internet based radio station is to someone who
does not know what it is?
Sebusiso Mbatha: Well that is simple; it‟s a
radio station that can only be listened over the
internet.
Interviewer: What made you to start an
internet based radio station?
Sebusiso Mbatha: Uhmmm well I wanted to be
a House Music Producer but I was bad in
creating music beats/instruments, so I wanted to
do something that will make me work with
House Music Producers and Dj‟s. So starting an
online radio was the only option for me.
Interviewer: What has starting an internet
based radio station helped you with?
Sebusiso Mbatha: I have helped a few Dj‟s/
Producers that I have worked with so far.
Interviewer: Any advice for someone who has
recently started an internet based radio
station?
Sebusiso Mbatha: We have over 100 online
radio stations worldwide, try to do thing
differently than the rest.
Interviewer: What would a typical person
need in order to access an internet based
radio station?
Sebusiso Mbatha: Just an internet enabled
cellphone and PC/Mac.
Interviewer: How hard is it to start an
internet based radio station and what does
one need in order to start an internet based
radio station?
Sebusiso Mbatha: For me, it was not that hard
because before I started the whole radio thing, I
did some research that helped me to understand
what an online radio station is all about. And I
have a diploma in IT so that played a major role
in understanding what types of networks and
servers I should use.
Interviewer: What are the advantages of an
internet based radio station as opposed to the
traditional radio stations?
Sebusiso Mbatha: Online radio got more
coverage than a traditional radio, even though
Dj‟s/Producers tend to forget that.
Interviewer: Are there organisations, bodies
and regulations one has to meet when they
start or own an internet based radio station?
Sebusiso Mbatha: Online radio owners or those
who need to open an online radio must contact
CAPASSO is a mechanical rights licensing
agency based in Johannesburg, South Africa,
which collects and distributes royalties to its
members, music publishers and composers.
Interviewer: We all know that starting any
project is a bit costly affair. How did you
source funds to start and keep your project
going?
Sebusiso Mbatha: For me it didn‟t cost that
much, as I have mentioned I have a background
in IT and doing a lot of research also helped me
a lot. Another thing is, I am always available for
those who need help about Online Radio, I am
not a guru but can teach/help one if they need
assistance.
