Sevenoaks 23: IB Art Exhibition | Page 22

My exhibition theme is exploring the relationship between figures through portraiture . Many of my paintings depict film photography of friends and family over the years . I prefer those where it is apparent that it was once a photograph , where the flash is especially bright , or it is blurred in part .
The other paintings are more surreal in nature , due to my shift from photography to collage as a template . I took inspiration from Dexter Dalwood and Neo Rauch in this process . I used collage to build my own scenes and create my own depth . I grew to prefer giving animal faces to human figures . The lines between age , gender and race were blurred , allowing the figures to become anonymous and exist in a separate social realm .
