How long have you been fly fishing and where
did you learn to flyfish?
Warren van Tonder
I learned to fly fish when I was 10 years old, catching trout at Lakenvlei Forest Lodge near Belfast. We had an annual trip with family friends to their lekker log cabins and my dad and his friend taught me how to fly fish.
I learnt a lot from these trips with the Oom’s and progressively started to out fish them, much to their disgust. Since then my love for the sport has grown as has my species list. Fly fishing is definitely one of my greatest passions in life.
Where did you hear of the club?
A guy who has the tendency to blank a lot (like really often ;)), Nicolas van Zweel told me about the club. After the first exploratory meeting, I didn’t hesitate to join immediately after my mug shot was taken. I think this was in 2015.
