Cost of registration is $20
before Oct. 1 and includes a
guaranteed T shirt. Registration
fee from 10/1/16 through
10/14/16 increases to $25 and
does not guarantee a T shirt. As
an incentive to have participants
register early, thus easing the
workload on volunteers, race day
registration will increase to $28.
All net proceeds from the 4th
Annual RiverFire 5K Run/Walk
will again benefit RESPONSE to
Domestic and Sexual Violence,
an agency offering support and
guidance to those affected by this
crime.

The eleventh annual Miss
Berlin-Gorham Scholarship Program will be held on Saturday,
Nov. 5, 2016 at 4 p.m. at the
Medallion Opera House, Gorham
Town Hall, 20 Park Street, Gorham. Applications for the Scholarship
Program
may
be
downloaded from the Miss New
Hampshire
web
site
at
www.missnh.org. The deadline
to enter the Miss Berlin-Gorham
competition is Wednesday, October 12, 2016. There is no entry
fee.
Miss Berlin-Gorham 2016,
Brittany Sulham of Bethlehem,
was awarded $4,600 in scholarships during the past year from
this local competition and the
Miss NH Scholarship Program.
Young women interested in
entering the Miss Berlin-Gorham scholarship program must
be a US citizen, at least 17 years
of age and a high school senior,
or may already attend college.
She must either be a six-month
resident, attend college full time
or work full time in any town or
unincorporated Township in
Coos, Grafton or Carroll County.
The maximum age to participate
in the pageant is no more than
24 years old on Dec. 31, 2017.
The program is a local preliminary into the 2017 Miss New
Hampshire Scholarship Program
to be held in early May, 2017 in
Derry. There will be competitions in Private Interview,
Onstage Interview, Lifestyle and
Fitness in Swimsuit, Talent and
Evening Wear. The new Miss
Berlin-Gorham will win at least
$3,000 in scholarship funds, the
first runner-up will win $250 and
the second runner up will win
$150. The newly crowned Miss
Berlin-Gorham will have the
opportunity to make appearances at the Parade of Lights,
Androscoggin Valley Chamber
Annual Meeting, Ride In to the
50’s, Relay for Life, Gorham’s
fourth of July parade and kiddie
parade, The Princess Ball, Jericho ATV Festival, River Fire
and a host of other local events.
Miss Berlin-Gorham’s Outstanding Teen competition will
be held on the same date. The

Serge A. Dionne
SERGE A. DIONNE
CLARKSVILLE–Serge
A.
Dionne, 62, of Clarksville, passed
away unexpectedly on Thursday
evening, Sept. 8, 2016, at the
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical
Center in Lebanon, with his family by his side and after a brief
and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born in Sherbrooke,
Que., on June 23, 1954, a son to
Antonio and Alice (Peloquin)
Dionne. Serge attended schools
in Pittsburg and was a 1972
graduate of Pittsburg High
School. He served with honor in
the U.S. Army from 1972-76.
Following his military service, Serge returned home and
worked for more than 30 years
in the maintenance department
at the Beecher Falls Division of
Ethan Allen. He later worked
for a while at the Coös County
Nursing Home, and he later
worked as a one-on-one paraprofessional in the Colebrook
schools, and also as a school bus
driver for special needs children,
a job which he cherished. He
was a proud member of the
Beecher Falls Volunteer Fire
Department for 31 years, and he
was passionate about the fire
service always.
Serge enjoyed working on his
home, snowmobiling, and he
loved spending time with his
