Plymouth and graduated from Plymouth Regional HS, earned a
Bachelor’s degree from Plymouth State College. He then served in the
Navy and in secular jobs before entering seminary and receiving his
call to ministry. He has a Masters of Divinity degree from Pittsburgh
Seminary. He lives with his wife, Rev. Tara Fanton, in a suburb of
Pittsburgh, Penn. Rev. Fanton is in the area visiting his father,
Charles Fanton of Groveton. The Community Baptist Church service

published a book of his paintings
Homage to a Rural Life.
Of his craft, Denis Palmer
says, “I have been drawing and
painting the people and events of
my community, Sawyerville and
its surroundings, since I arrived
here in 1979. I have been
attracted to the maple syrup
harvest, Remembrance Day, the
Cookshire
Fair,
plowing
matches, auctions and the everyday lives of family, friends and
neighbors. In conversation, I
record their knowledge of family,
ancestry, community, their long
memories for patterns of weather
and the seasons, the joyful and
difficult time of their pasts as
well as the flavor of their speech.”
