U15 GIRLS’ TEAM
We have had a great season of cricket this summer. Our U15 team was quite a young team, with five of the girls from Year 7, but we worked well together and made it to the last eight of one of the national competitions.
One highlight of the year was the match against Forest School; we bowled first and got them all out in the last over of the match. They scored 104 runs as we bowled and fielded well, with Imogen Kalaher getting 4 wickets and Bella Heselden and Utkarsha Bhosale both getting 2. Our batting innings got off to a good start with 17 runs in the first over. We chased down their score in the eighth over without losing a wicket and Chloe Selvey-Clinton got 50 runs! This was a great result for us with all members of the team playing a big part in reaching this win.
I also played for the U17 girls on national plate finals day. It was a good opportunity to play against Culford School, one of the strongest schools in north-west England, in the semi-finals, but unfortunately, we didn’ t manage to win against their very strong side, narrowly losing in the play-off for third by only 17 runs, with Milana Robbens taking four wickets and me managing to get my first century for Sevenoaks!
We have had such an enjoyable and successful season of cricket and we look forward to the next season. We are also very grateful for the support that our coaches have given us, particularly Mr Smith for being there at every cup match.
Ruby Marriage, Year 10
We made it to the national quarter-finals and lost to the eventual champions, Kingston Grammar School. We had a 10-wicket win against Hurst College where Jemima House took 3 for 9, Eva Vitorino Hiietamm took 3 for 28 and then Emily Tarr( 50 *) and I( 60 *) chased down 131. I also scored 79 not out, 53 not out, 41 and 131 not out in four matches of the U17 Smile Travel national cup.
