OS SPORT
CRICKET Sennocke Cricket Club
Cricket has been played at Knole for centuries, and Sennocke Cricket Club has been around since the 1940s. Sennocke CC is predominantly made up of Old Sennockians who play 40-over village league cricket at Knole on Saturday afternoons.
This season has been mixed: won 3, lost 7. Three standout performances come from the OS 2010 cohort: Cameron de Haan’ s century to chase down a competitive total vs Chevening; Ross Williams missing the first hour of play and coming straight on to run through the opposition( 5-33 vs Weald); and a blistering 89 from 50 balls from Phil Clayton to snatch victory when both sides thought the game was done and dusted against Farningham.
Sennocke CC welcomes all standards, having current and former players from the school’ s 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams. The OS involved at present vary from 1980s leavers right through to Sixth Formers. After a match we have a pint and those who wish to go for a curry. For anyone interested in joining or playing a match to see what it’ s about, please reach out to Phil Clayton via os @ sevenoaksschool. org

GOLF
At the time of writing, the OS Golf Society is halfway through the summer season and, to date, we have had great weather for our fixtures. What a blessing! The April opener at Sweetwoods GC was won by Ben Woolland( OS 1977) and Mike Hirst( OS 1970). In June we played at Crowborough Beacon GC when OS were invited to bring a guest. Ian Topp( OS 1970) narrowly beat the undersigned by one shot to take the honours on a beautiful, warm day when we were glad to enjoy a few post-round beers on the terrace with its magnificent views to the South Downs. In July our only‘ match’ was played against Old Alleynians Golf Society at Littlestone in New Romney. We were narrowly beaten in 30C heat but were happily refreshed by a cooling sea breeze.
Our remaining fixtures took place at Wrotham Heath and Hever, with the final meet of the year at Piltdown Golf Club in October.
We welcome golfers of all abilities and, while we don’ t take ourselves too seriously, we offer competitive handicap golf to all ages. So whether you are working, but can sneak away for an occasional day, or you are retired and fancy an agreeable time with older and younger OS, please contact me to find out more.
