HOCKEY student representation in England U21 , U18 and U16 squads and Talent Academy Festivals , as well as students winning the EHL Premier League , the Super Six Indoor Championships and performing in various national league 1st XI club squads .
The opportunity to study further in the US continues to be popular , and we are delighted to encourage and support students in using their hockey to explore scholarship and academic offers , while on the home front we are equally proud to see another Old Sennockian earn a Varsity Blue for Oxford .
The U18s are national indoor champions as our other teams celebrate top national , regional and county placements .
It is always a pleasure to reflect each year on the successes and challenges the season has brought in such a vibrant educational environment . Alongside developing values such as independence , resilience and humility , the quality that has struck me most this year is one that all greats require : consistency .
Just how consistent we have become in our collective desire to perform at the top level , as well as engage and inspire those who have never played before , is what makes hockey one of our flagship sports .
Alongside inspiring the next generation of students who had never picked up a hockey stick nor stepped on a pitch before , we also were crowned U18 girls national indoor champions , U18 girls Tier 1 national quarter-finalists , U18 boys Tier 3 national finalists , U16 girls Tier 3 national finalists ( second place ), U14 girls Tier 1 national quarter-finalists , U13 boys Tier 2 county finalists and U12 girls regional champions .
Several students have been encouraged in club and pathway careers and we are proud to celebrate
Students have enjoyed using their passion for hockey to organise charity matches and raise funds for valuable causes . Naturally the highlight of any student ’ s playing career is the chance to take on their school coaches and this year was yet another exciting and tightly contested match – with staff narrowly taking the victory to maintain dignity ! We are already excited for next season , and we want to help create the next set of lifelong memories for all students .
U18 GIRLS
Cath Nicholson
This past season has been one incredible experience and a highly enjoyable aspect of school life . Under the leadership of Mrs Nicholson we trained hard and started delivering some seriously good results , which together created some wonderful memories . Being named the best school indoor team in the country is a moment I will remember for many years to come . Much of our success this season can be put down to the supportive environment we sought to create , allowing everyone to flourish and grow as players .
U18 BOYS
Josefina Hippe , Upper Sixth
The biggest achievement was undoubtedly qualifying for the Tier 3 nationals ; we can certainly be proud of the effort and unwavering determination we showed and most importantly , it was clear that all the boys , from Year 9 to Year 13 , enjoyed every second of the season , whether it was a match , training or the coach journey singing .
Harry Scott , Upper Sixth
