CRICKET
After a very wet start , fixtures came thick and fast in a fun and lively season .
After a solid winter of training across the age groups , and two indoor county finals days for the U13 and U15 girls , the Summer term got off to a damp start . With only one match played on our grass pitches at Solefields before half term , we made use of our astroturf wickets to get in as many matches as we could .
The 1st XI got off to a solid start with three wins from three , including a century from Harry House in the first round of the U18 Kent Cup . The U15 girls also had a successful start with wins over Caterham and Bede ’ s in The Cricket Paper 100 Ball Cup . A further win vs Seaford College meant a home tie with Ipswich School in the last 16 where we came up short batting second after a brilliant start to the run chase . It was an excellent cup run and one the girls will have learned a lot from .
As the weather improved the fixtures came thick and fast after half term . Girls cricket continues to grow at the school with huge numbers making it their sport of choice in the Summer term . The U13s had a brilliant day at the Reigate Sixes , finishing fifth overall . On Founder ’ s Day our 1st XI girls beat a Lord ’ s Taverners XI on Duke ’ s Meadow with good support from parents and students .
