Valley Championship , second at the south east area championships and at the schools ’ nationals they ended up second placed school overall . Victory was found by Martin Atilla and Luana van Oranje at Itchenor Schools Week where they beat 71 other boats from 16 schools . Outside school , Martin also excelled , representing Latvia at the World Sailing Youth Worlds , finishing 11th overall .
Off the water , we also enjoyed our best attended sailing dinner to date , with 135 sailors , parents and staff in attendance .
After two disrupted years , it was fantastic to see our usual calendar of events returning , with 74 pupils taking part in regular sailing and 37 in CCF Navy sailing . The most exciting development this year was the establishment of our second sailing base at Bewl Water – this allows us to expand our programme with a variety of new boats and also allows for training camps outside our fixed school sessions . The fleet has seen the addition of six RS Aeros ( exciting single handers ) and our first keelboat , an SB20 , soon to be joined by a second . This expansion means we can offer a more rounded programme , which means each sailor can experience different types of boats and challenges , setting them up with the sailing bug for life !
