1ST XV
The 1st team campaign was not as successful as we envisaged from a results perspective . However , we developed as a team greatly in spite of hardships , culminating emphatically in a great win over Wetherby in the Ealing Trailfinders stadium . The opportunity to play under the lights in a professional setting was an experience second to none .
I like to think of the season as a myriad of individual stories and moments illustrating our hard work and dedication . For example , Leo Gerza had never touched a rugby ball before arriving at the school yet , to the credit of his application and undeniable talent , was deservedly awarded Player of the Year . Riccardo Serafin had also never played rugby prior to joining the school in the Sixth Form , but became a stalwart of the 1st XV in the front row . Further highlights include the metamorphosis of Fin Roberts from scrum half to flanker in one particular game because of injuries ; a position which was unfamiliar , but stepping out of his comfort zone to benefit the team gained unwavering respect from all .
Will Ide has undoubtedly racked up the most minutes of school rugby in recent years ; his election as Players ’ Player of the Year is testament to his character and commitment to the shirt . Otherwise , the moment of magic must go to Tanay Relwani for his tremendous try against Eastbourne College ; supporters were treated to a feast of attacking rugby that would not go amiss in the stands at Twickenham . Finally , I am grateful to Jonny Francombe as co-captain and Josh Broadfield who helped to steer the ship in leadership roles .
I speak on behalf of all the Upper Sixth leavers in thanking our coaches for their efforts and expertise in developing players . The Sevenoaks rugby experience is a sense of belonging in pursuit of success , surrounded by your teammates .
