I NOSTRI OSPITI / OUR GUESTS L eena F. è finlandese. Ha lavorato per tanti anni come professore di tedesco e svedese a Helsinki. Parla un buon italiano imparato in Finlandia ma anche in Italia. Da due anni è in pensione e da allora ha pensato di cambiare vita. Provare a vivere in Italia, che conosce bene per averla attraversato da turista da nord a sud in tante vacanze. Ma dove fermarsi da residente? “Ero passata per caso da Castellammare. Subito ho capito che era questo il posto che cercavo. Mi sono detta: “voglio restare qui”. Così ho preso in affitto un appartamento e ci abito in modo quasi stabile tutto l’anno. Solo d’estate per due-tre mesi torno in Finlandia, perché non amo il caldo eccessivo.” Divorziata, ha tre figli ormai adulti che la vengono a trovare quando possono. Ma non è un problema per lei, perché ha trovato da subito una ospitalità siciliana che non immaginava. “La gente è deliziosa. Mi invitano i vicini e tanti amici che mi sono creata in brevissi mo tempo. Mi fanno sentire in famiglia. E poi la cosa più bella è aprire il balcone la mattina e vedere il sole. Vivere in un piccolo paese ha tanti vantaggi. E non parliamo poi del cibo. La frutta e la verdura fresca. Insomma qui la vita è bella, costa meno che in Finlandia e c’è tanto più tempo libero per la lettura e lo studio”. Le chiedo se c’è qualcosa che non è proprio perfetto. “Sì. Gli eventi che vengono organizzati non cominciano mai all’ora indicata, le strade hanno tante buche.” L eena L. comes from Finland. Her job was teaching German and Swedish language in Helsinki. Two years ago she retired and decided to do a foreign –living experience, and exactly in Italy, because she has been travelling a lot in Italy and has studied Italian language and culture. But in which Italian place to stop? “By chance, two years ago I have visited Cmare with some friends. Immediately I thought: “ This is the right town I am looking for. I rented a flat and since then I live in Cmare except the summertime, when I come back to Finland, because the weather here is too hot for me.” Divorced, has three sons, who come and visit her from time to time. But she does not feel lonely. The neighbours are very friendly with her, so that she feel at home. “The most beautiful thing here is opening the balcony in the morning and seeing the sun. Moreover, food is delicious, fruits and vegetable are fresh, cost of life is cheap, I have freetime for reading and studying. I do not understand only few things: why any event never starts at the scheduled time, why the street paving is so neglected. ” E llen è una deliziosa signora tedesca. Vive a Berlino con il marito e un figlio di 13 anni. E’ laureata in Scienze Sociali e il suo partner (un cinese con nazionalità tedesca) ha studiato Fisica ma è da sempre innamorato della cultura. Lavorano entrambi nella propria società di servizi per gli anziani a Berlino, ma da tempo cercavano di cambiare vita. “La metropoli, anche se offre tante comodità, toglie tanta libertà. La vita diventa over-regulated. Il nostro sogno era poter abitare in una casa vicino al mare. A differenza di molti tedeschi che scelgono la Toscana o il Lago di Garda, noi abbiamo cominciato a cercare lo scorso anno in Sicilia. Prima a Cefalù, poi a Bagheria. Ma non eravamo soddisfatti del posto.” Poi, un amico suggerisce loro di visitare Castellammare. E’ stato amore a prima vista. Hanno comprato attraverso Tecnocasa nel giro di qualche settimana una casetta a due passi dal mare a Cala Bianca. “Ci abitiamo per parecchi mesi all’anno, sia d’estate che d’inverno. Anche mio figlio sta volentieri a Castellammare. Addirittura, quando è il momento, non vorrebbe tornare a Berlino. Stiamo pensando di trasferirci qui tutto l’anno.” E llen is a very nice German lady. She lives in Berlin with her husband and has a teenager son. Ellen has got a Degree in Social Science and her partner is a German Chinese, who studied Physics, but is fond of Culture. Both of them work in their own company specialized in services to old people in Berlin, but from so long they have been planning to change life. “A large city, even if it provides you with every kind of services, takes you away so much freedom, because it is over- regulated. For so many years we have had a dream: living in a big house near the sea. A lot of German people moved to Tuscany or Lago di Garda. We instead, started our search in Sicily. First in Cefalù, then in Bagheria, but these places were not the right places for us.” At last, a friend suggested the couple to visit Castellammare del Golfo. It was immediately love. After few weeks they bought a house on the seaside at Cala Bianca by Tecnocasa. “We live here for many months a year, not only in summertime, but in wintertime as well. Even my son is very happy to stay in Castellammare and he would not come back to Berlin.
