Inoltre , con la collaborazione della Soprintendenza di Trapani e l ’ Università di Granada , stiamo promuovendo una campagna di scavi presso le pendici e nei dintorni del Castello d ’ Eufemio , a Calatafimi . Tale campagna coinvolgerà studenti universitari e giovani in genere . Ignazio Sottile is the president of the local section of SicilAntica in Castellammare del Golfo . We asked him some questions about the archeological / historic sites found on the territory of Castellammare . “ Since old times , this territory has been colonized by a lot of people of different civilization and cultures , from the Neolithic to the Hellenic civilizations , from the Romans to the Byzantine settlements , from the Arabians to the Angevins and Aragoneses . Consequently , in collaboration with the Town Council , we are completing a new thematic map of the territory which covers the whole territory of Castellammare del Golfo and Custonaci . We also strengthened the bonds with the Sea Bureau and thanks to this collaboration we have located underwater finds from 6 th century b . c . to the Angevins and Aragoneses dominations . In addition , in collaboration with the Monuments and fine Arts Office of Trapani and the University of Granada , we are carrying out an excavation campaign on the slopes of Eufemio Castle in Calatafimi which involves university students and young people who I invite to keep in touch with us to have more information about our future activities .
