Fast forward to 2026 and I decided to come on a last minute get-away with my partner, Heather, the Countess of Camborne. All in, it was cheaper for two weeks for two of us than a TUI trip to Cape Verde. Heather doesn’ t dive and has no intention of diving. Her ears won’ t clear on a flight and therefore have no chance underwater, however she is passionate when it comes to swimming and snorkelling. My whistle-stop tour of Palawan was planned and we decided to finally splash out on two nights at Sangat Resort.
After a day-and-a-half of the absolute turmoil that is today’ s Coron Town, we were overjoyed to get in the air-conditioned minibus that took us northwest to a remote jetty. Here, a picturesque speed boat ride took us to the island sanctuary of Sangat. We were met by the incredibly helpful team and while Heather enjoyed the welcome cocktail, I enquired about a dive.
The resort is owned and run by a Brit who learned with his father through BSAC. The PADI dive centre is currently managed by another Brit, while his team of locals guide and look after your every need.
