A STUNNING NIGHT TIME image of a bobtail squid taken by BSAC member Kirsty Andrews off the coast of South Devon has been announced as the winning image of this year ’ s British and Irish Underwater Photography Championship . Kirsty , who also writes a regular column for SCUBA , was crowned BIUPC Champion 2022 following the one-day splash-in style photography competition in September . Over 24 hours , photographers were challenged to take images in , on and under the water in any location around Britain and the Republic of Ireland . A total of 53 images were successfully submitted into the competition , from 30 entrants .
Organised by the British Society of Underwater Photographers ( BSoUP ) and supported by BSAC , this year ’ s competition had four main categories – wide angle , close-up , compact and human impact .
