IT ’ S FANTASTIC TO BE ABLE TO LOOK back on a full year ’ s diving . My year started in Egypt , not quite as warm as I ’ d have liked , but a lovely way to start the season . Some of the people I travelled with were getting back into diving after considerable breaks , so it was rewarding to watch confidence levels grow through the week . I was also pleasantly surprised by the health of the coral .
Back in the UK , I carried out a series of dives with a close friend , building on the trip to Egypt . Getting used to our colder waters and dry ( damp ?) suit diving , progressively building up depth and ticking off some of the iconic South Coast wrecks . Hearing “ oohs ” and squeals of delight at things that we can take for granted is a wonderful reminder of how lucky we are to experience all our seas have to offer .
Quite a lot of our dives have been on day boats , booking as individuals , allowing us to meet divers from many different clubs . It ’ s never been easier to book a slot on a boat that caters for the type of diving that you want to do , so if you are thinking of returning to diving – just go for it !
We have a schedule of Skill Development Courses ( SDCs ) and diver training days running right through 2023 . Diver training days can be tailored to individual needs and modules that you might struggle to complete in-branch . Many Skill Development Courses are dry courses so a great opportunity to get out and about , learn new skills and be ready to go next season .
Have a look here bsac . com / sdcs to see what ’ s on offer near you . If you can ’ t find what you want , then contact your Regional Coach . There are always opportunities to schedule additional events if the demand is out there .
