CLUBFOCUS
Andy and Sarah in the Menai Strait
What about going diving ?
In 2021 , we delivered an impressive dive programme , with Covid safety measures and risk assessments in place . In a typical year we arrange 30-40 club diving events ; but 2021 was exceptional , with 65 diving events since the lockdown in Wales was eased on 3 May . The majority have been local shore dives . Our dive sites are often chosen for easy access , which is not only a benefit to those with reduced mobility but also enhances safety for all .

Tell us more about the shore diving …
Holyhead harbour ( Newry Beach / Mackenzie Pier ) is a convenient training site sheltered from the prevailing winds . The site has a bright shingle beach , and at high water steps from the pier lead to sheltered water of up to 10 metres .
Trearddur Bay offers many shore dives suitable for various levels of experience from shallow reef dives within sheltered bays to more challenging swim-throughs
A night dive at Trearddur into and around adjacent bays .
The north-eastern coast also provides some excellent diving opportunities sheltered from the south-westerly prevailing winds at Bull Bay , Porth Llaneilian and Point Lynas .
We have a unique ‘ boomerang ’ drift dive site in the Menai Straits , where tidal flow changes allow a drift on to , and off , slack water on neap tides . This high-energy marine environment has a high density of life , but care is required to ensure that the local tidal flows are understood to avoid a long walk back to the starting location .
