With three internships at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins Hospital researching breast and colon cancer, and shadowing a neurosurgeon, Kayla is ready for her future after graduation.“ My plan is to become a physician assistant. Stevenson has helped me tremendously by providing me with a solid foundation in both biology and chemistry that I will be able to use as I continue my studies.” |
Biochemistry focuses on integrating and applying chemical and biological principles to explore and understand the chemistry of living organisms.
Within the program, students will be grounded in the chemical, physical, and biological principles that characterize living systems. They will develop an interdisciplinary mindset that prepares them to embrace the interdependent nature of these areas of study. Students will gain a wide range of technical skills required in the modern workforce in both research and industrial environments.
Graduates from the program will be well prepared to meet the rapidly changing research, clinical, and technical demands of our modern world, preparing them for careers in many areas of science. In addition, these students are well prepared for careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy and other health sciences, as well as for research and industrial positions. Graduates of the biochemistry major may also continue on to receive a Master of Science in Forensic Science or a Master of Arts in Teaching at Stevenson. option is also available in forensic science.
