SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS
Formulating a Comprehensive Legal Framework for Blockchain Technology in the Energy Industry of Malaysia
As sustainability is an imperative concern in today ’ s business landscape , this cluster brings together researchers to scrutinise the challenges businesses face as they adopt social responsibility . Our primary objective is to advance healthy and equitable societies through sustainability-focused efforts , including ESG practices , energy justice initiatives , forest carbon activities , promotion of green consumption , and advancements in sustainability finance .
ONGOING RESEARCH GRANTS
Enhancing Sustainable Growth among Malaysian SMEs This collaborative project aims to gain a comprehensive understanding of sustainability-related challenges and opportunities prevalent among Malaysian SMEs . This project will employ a mix of quantitative and qualitative research methods to gather in-depth insights from local SMEs , the pain points of adopting ESG standards , and the roles financial institutions can play in accelerating sustainable growth among Malaysian SMEs . This research endeavors to develop a legal framework aimed at standardizing peer-to-peer energy trading in Malaysia , in alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goal 7 , which promotes universal access to sustainable and affordable modern energy systems . Through qualitative research methods , including semi-structured interviews with industry stakeholders and legal experts , the study aims to identify opportunities and challenges in integrating blockchain technology into the energy sector . Ultimately , the goal is to pave the way for the establishment of a comprehensive legal structure to address the legal uncertainties , potential liabilities , and data privacy concerns associated with blockchain adoption in the energy industry .
