At the heart of the School ’ s RESEARCH pursuits are academic rigor , a multidisciplinary perspective , and contemporary relevance . These endeavours are aimed at advancing both the theory and practice of management , tailored for today ’ s global business leaders .
Aligning with Monash University ’ s Impact 2030 Strategic Plan , the School has streamlined its research efforts into three clusters : Sustainable Business , Digital Transformation , and Thriving Communities . These research activities span seven departments , fostering collaboration among researchers , industry partners and policymakers .
Our commitment to advancing business knowledge and supporting academic excellence is evident in the significant increase in high-quality publications aligned with the School ’ s vision and mission . In 2023 , there has been remarkable growth in top-tier publications , particularly in A and A * ABDC-ranked journals , underscoring the School ’ s strategic focus on research .
Furthermore , our dedication to research excellence is supported by substantial competitive research funding , totaling MYR280,000 across 14 research projects .

Sustainable Development for Thriving Communities Conference 13 & 14 December 2023 The SDTC Conference , a collaborative effort between the Thriving Communities Research Cluster from the School of Business and the Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability ( CDES ) at Monash Business School , brought together esteemed speakers and partners like the World Bank EAPCE Research Centre and the Asian Development Bank Institute .
Led by luminaries such as Prof Jomo Kwame Sundaram and Prof Gabriella Conti , the conference sparked incisive discussions and intellectual exploration on emerging issues such as climate change mitigation , environmental protection , economic growth , and community resilience , resonating across academic and policy realms . These discussions aligned with UN-SDGs , particularly SDG 10 ( Reduced Inequalities ), SDG 11 ( Sustainable Cities and Communities ) and SDG 13 ( Climate Action ). The School ’ s efforts also align with Impact 2030 ’ s goal of fostering thriving communities through inclusive and sustainable economic strategies .
