Middle School & College Football ISA U16 North Tournament Reported by: Mr Groves A warm Wednesday afternoon brought the ISA North U16s tournament at Abbey Gate College in Chester. Scarisbrick Hall took a young side of Year 10s with only two Year 11s which on paper looked as though they would be in for a tough afternoon. After the first three games this would be the case with Scarisbrick only managing 3 scoring draws, (Scoring draws gaining more points). It took the 4th game for Scarisbrick to really kick in with a comprehensive 3-0 win against rivals Tower College. This was the kick start they needed with more wins against Hulme Hall and Bridgewater. It all came down to the last game with Abbeygate. Scarisbrick Hall needed to win in order to take the title and pip Argyle House from Sunderland to the post. With a shaky start Scarisbrick Hall were looking like this could be taken from their grasp but a second half hat trick from Rajwinder Uppal and strong performances from captain Ross Turpin, Tosin Oyebola and Jake Whiley saw Scarisbrick home with the 2014/15 ISA North U16s 8 a side Championship! Well Done boys! Scarisbrick Hall vs Our Lady Queen of Peace Reported by: Mr Groves The U13s joined the U15s team to play their fixture at Our Lady’s Queen of Peace away. The U13s had come off the back of some tough defeats in recent weeks so required a real tough performance to pick themselves up and this was something they delivered to the travelling parents. Scarisbrick were in control for most of the game with Bradley Hickman and Alex Fisher controlling the midfield and posing opportunities for darting runs by Henry McDonnell and Joe Woods. Scarisbrick Hall just couldn’t find the target with all the chances and came into half time 0-0. After a few changes and a shift in the style of play Scarisbrick Hall School came out even better than before offering more opportunities for a win. It took a Harrison Brookfield Graham deflected corner to break the deadlock making the score 0-1. Scarisbrick looked all in control as they moved into the last few minutes and Scarisbrick were defending valiantly until they failed to deal with a loose ball in the box resulting in Our Lady’s finding the equaliser just before the the final whistle. Disheartened Scarisbrick Hall team finished the game 1-1 but were pleased with their efforts, well done boys.
