Netball at Scarisbrick Hall School
Year 5 & 6 Netball
Reported by: Miss Paterson & Miss Markey
The Netball season opened with a High 5 Tournament held at Ormskirk High School at the beginning of
October. The pupils were well prepared for the Tournament with all of them showing their dedication
attending both lunch time and after school practices.
The girls played various teams such as St. Johns, Lordsgate, Town Green and St. Michaels. The pupils battled
hard playing 9 games, winning all their games and managed to secure a place in the final. They fought hard
and played tremendously well as a team with great passing, moving and dodging but were defeated in the
final and overall finished in second place, of which the team and I were both very proud.
Congratulations to all the team members and what a great start to the season, well done Grace Worth, Ellie
Leigh, Lottie Parks, Maisy Littler, Faye Baymen, Sian Chapman, Lottie Parkes, Grace Simpson, and Niamh
Jefferson.
Year 5/6 Netball League
The year 5/6 team has been moved to the North
Southport area schools this term, playing schools
such as St Patricks, Churchtown, Larkfield,
Marshside and St Johns.
Our first league game of the year was against St.
Patricks where we played two games. The girls
showed fantastic teamwork, some skilful
interception and outwitting their opponents, they
communicated and worked hard during both
games, their hard work in lessons and practices
had paid off, they won the first game 5-2 and the
second game 5-1. This gave the girls even more
drive and determination to train hard and continue
to practice.
The next game was against Churchtown primary,
but due to re-scheduling of the game not all team
members were able to play. This therefore
provided a much tougher challenge. The pupils
played very well with many pupils in year 5 playing
against a year 6 Churchtown team. The girls stayed
positive and worked hard throughout the game
but Churchtown provided to be the stronger team.
The pupils were a credit to school, and our year 5
players showed some fantastic potential.
The rest of the games are due to be played in
the new year and I would like to wish the team
the best of luck for their remaining matches.
