One of my mentors is Mr . Mitsuo Abe , who is Norick ’ s father . Since starting up Team Norick , he laid the right foundation for my career by encouraging me to win the J-GP2 championship title , by letting me experience Supermoto etc . In addition , there are more like Mr . Nanba as a coach of my youth career and Mr . Yoshikawa , as my most recent coach . I deeply respect Katsuyuki Nakasuga as a rider . He ’ s Japan ’ s undisputed champion and I have been able to dedicate all my body , soul and spirit to exceed him in racing ability . We ’ d been in the same team and fighting together until last year . He is older and wiser than me and let me have a head-on battle with him . He taught me how to fight fair and square . I ’ ve learned a lot of things from him . When my participation in WorldSBK became official , he was with me and pleased with my step-up to the world stage as if it were his own . I don ’ t think that I was able to completely surpass him , but I ’ d like to show him my growth in WorldSBK . My father is also my mentor . He ran a bike shop and took me to my first-ever motorcycle race when I was three years old . And then my father let me start racing . He was a very strict father , but he had always been more supportive than anyone else . I believe that my father is rooting for me even now from heaven .”
