This mystery is compounded when you consider that of the 24 regular riders on the Round One entry list , only THREE were Italian . Andrea Locatelli , Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Axel Bassani . That ’ s just 12.5 % of the riders . But as far as participating teams go , the WorldSBK express train runs largely on Italian steam .
So why are there still so many ‘ scuderia ’ based out of Italy ? It is a good news story we must look into more deeply , particularly this weekend . Eight Italian teams , but many forms of WorldSBK racing life , it seems . Well , the official Aruba Ducati Racing Team has to be Italian , really . GRT Yamaha got promoted , and promoted themselves , to WorldSBK after success in WorldSSP . Team Go Eleven Ducati are playing a major chord on the home-made Panigale guitar , as are relative newcomers MotoCorsa Ducati and the now-established WorldSBK entry , Barni Spark Racing . TPR Team Pedercini has been in WorldSBK for what feels like forever , running Kawasakis most recently . Kawasaki Puccetti Racing has won races in WorldSBK and are now an established presence at a world level but , like most of their compatriot teams , they started out in the CIV championship . And then there is newest full-time Italian team in the WorldSBK championship , Yamaha Motoxracing . If you count the Gerno Di Lesmo half of the official Pata Yamaha with Brixx overall WorldSBK effort we can probably say that there 8.5 Italian teams in WorldSBK .
The financial reasons for Italian teams to be around in such numbers are not really obvious , as Italy is no bigger than France or the UK and well behind Germany in its population size . But there are only ( if we are being generous ) two German and two British WorldSBK teams , none based in France itself , and just three from the MotoGP™ powerhouse of Spain .
All of those other countries are , in their own particular ways , nuts about motorsport , with lots of proven racing success . But it seems the NEED to go as high as you can in motorsport , the ambition to take on the world driven by a national passion that supersedes all other considerations , lies with you lot , the people of Italy . costituiscano ancora la metà della griglia del WorldSBK , parlando di squadre ancora in attività .

Otto squadre italiane , ma a quanto pare anche tante altre forme di “ vita agonistica ” nel WorldSBK . L ‘ Aruba Ducati Racing Team ufficiale penso sia davvero italiano . GRT Yamaha è stata promossa , o per meglio dire si è promossa , nel WorldSBK dopo il successo ottenuto nel WorldSSP . Il Team Go Eleven Ducati sta recitando un ruolo importante con la sua Panigale fatta in casa , così come il relativamente nuovo arrivato MotoCorsa Ducati ed il Barni Spark Racing , ormai consolidatosi nel WorldSBK . Se consideriamo che la metà dei componenti del team ufficiale Pata Yamaha con Brixx nel Mondiale WorldSBK sono di Gerno Di Lesmo , possiamo affermare che ci sono 8,5 squadre italiane nel WorldSBK .
Le ragioni finanziarie per cui le squadre italiane sono molto numerose non sono così ovvie , in quanto l ‘ Italia non è più grande della Francia o del Regno Unito , ed è molto meno popolata rispetto alla Germania . Ma ci sono solo ( ad essere generosi ) due team tedeschi e due britannici del WorldSBK , nessuno con sede in Francia , e solo tre provenienti dalla Spagna , vera potenza in MotoGP™ .
However rich or poor the general economy at any one time , however unfavourable the odds look to anyone else , Italians turn a petrolsoaked desire into a physical ability to get on the grid in a way that nobody else can inside the WorldSBK paddock . There is hardly a shortage of Italian spoken in the MotoGP™ paddock , of course , but in WorldSBK the step from national racing to global competition is natural , well proven , and continuing . In short , WorldSBK participation seems attainable for Italian teams . Global productionderived racing dreams can come true , and most frequently do if your flag is green , white and red .
We asked a spectrum of Italian teams why there are still so many of them in WorldSBK ? “ World Superbike was really born in Italy , and Italy has a long story in motorsport ,” said Denis Sacchetti , Team Manager of recent WorldSBK race winners , Go Eleven Ducati . “ Also in MotoGP™ there are a lot of Italian guys and Italian teams - Gresini , Cecchinello , Aprilia , Ducati . I think that is because the Italian people have the passion for motorsport in their DNA , from when they are born . We have a long story in cars and motorbike racing . We get this from our parents . We have good tracks and good weather to do this sport .”
Tutti paesi che sono , a modo loro , pazzi per gli sport motoristici , con molti e comprovati successi nelle competizioni . Ma sembra che la NECESSITÀ di salire il più in alto possibile nel motorsport , l ‘ ambizione di conquistare il mondo spinta da una passione nazionale che supera ogni altra considerazione , sia ad appannaggio del popolo italiano .
Per quanto in un qualsiasi momento l ‘ economia globale possa essere ricca o povera , per quanto le probabilità sembrino sfavorevoli per chiunque altro , gli italiani trasformano un desiderio imbevuto di benzina nella capacità di entrare fisicamente a far parte della griglia di partenza , in un modo che nessun altro è in grado di fare all ‘ interno del paddock del WorldSBK . Anche nel paddock della MotoGP™ non manca certo la lingua italiana , ma nel WorldSBK il passaggio dalle gare nazionali al campionato mondiale sembra sia una cosa naturale , ben collaudata e continuativa . Insomma , la partecipazione al WorldSBK sembra sia un traguardo raggiungibile per i team italiani . I sogni nelle gare delle derivate dalla serie possono diventare realtà più frequentemente se la tua bandiera è bianca rossa e verde .
