Joyce
Hatto
iTunes
has
used
special
software
to
find
cases
of
musical
plagiarism.
Most
notorious
is
the
case
of
the
pianist
Joyce
Hatto
in
2007,
when
the
software
identified
the
composer
as
László
Simon.
The
case
was
described
by
a
spokesperson
for
the
British
Phonographic
Industry
(BPI)
as
“one
of
the
most
extraordinary
cases
of
piracy
the
record
industry
had
ever
seen”
when
over
100
recordings
were
discovered
to
be
fraudulent
a
few
months
after
her
death.
In
conclusion,
it
is
important
to
understand
copyright
law
when
taking
inspiration
from
creative
works
when
creating
our
own
and
to
cite
and
give
credit
to
authors
where
necessary
in
order
to
respect
the
legal
rights
associated
with
creating
original
works.
