A
chemical
patent
is
a
patent
for
an
invention
in
the
pharmaceutical
industry,
a
patent
being
a
set
of
rights
granted
to
an
inventor
for
a
set
period
of
time
in
exchange
for
the
invention
(a
product
or
process
that
solves
a
specific
technological
problem)
to
become
public
knowledge.
Chemical
patents
are
extremely
important
in
the
pharmaceutical
industry
as
drugs
and
medicines
can
easily
be
copied,
this
can
be
done
by
analysing
the
substance
for
the
active
ingredient
via
various
classical
and
instrumental
analytical
techniques
which
depend
upon
the
drug.
This
is
particularly
problemental
due
to
the
significant
amount
of
money
spent
on
research
and
development
as
well
as
the
high
