Dia de los Muertos
In Spanish class, fifth graders placed their “ofrenda” in the altar dedicated to Dia de los Muertos in the new Fifth Grade
commons. Boys explained in Spanish who they were remembering, which was a great way for them to honor their loved ones
while learning about this Mexican tradition.
Year Two for MCC Partnership
This is the second year of Saint David’s partnership with Manhattan Childrens Center, a school that provides treatment and
education to children with autism and related disabilities. To prepare Second Grade boys for their visits to MCC, where they
participate in a variety of activities with MCC students, educators from MCC led a student orientation at Saint David’s.
The boys made five visits to MCC this fall, and their MCC friends visited Saint David’s as well. This partnership helps
boys engage with children whose experience of the world differs from theirs and cultivate an appreciation for difference, as
well as an understanding that we are all essentially alike.
