Data Collection and Analysis Solutions Board
Utilize speed data during this plan to make more informed decisions ( RSA in Arlington reveal speed was a major issue in corridors reviewed ) Major thoroughfare streets
Disabled residents without adequate transportation
Data and safety analysis / information is not consistently communicated to the public – only learn about safety and crashes on the news – needs to be wider communication of data and information . In lower income communities – more kids walk to school – child killed in South Arlington – parents parking cars in middle of street – kids everywhere and need for more enforcement High Latino and Vietnamese communities – culturally used to walking and culturally drinking is condoned , especially at a younger age . Collect crash data specific to these populations to understand if and where challenges exist to be able to identify solutions . Where majority of severe crashes are occurring and what can we do in those areas RSA ’ s reveal people going every which way – need direction / signage BENCHMARK NOTES
Incorporate equity analysis in approach – EJ Index ( tool to help score projects accordingly )
Incorporate roadway characteristic data into approach to identify risk areas Incorporate volume data into approach to get a better representation of high injury locations Obtain crash data related to police chases – recently an incident where people were involved in a crash b / c of a chase . Possibly use this to information to update the City of Arlington ’ s chase policy Red light / stop sign running data ( patterns of where people are speeding or running lights
More data collection for bicycle counts ( permanent collection e [ orts versus short term )
1 . Equity is considered in decision-making 2 . Locations for hot spot and systemic safety improvements 3 . System level needs not being considered
