If you’re new to SLC, then welcome to the college! If you’re here for another semester or a new program, then welcome back! My name is Jamie, and I am entering my third year in the Business Administration – Marketing program. This year I am working at the Student Association as the Manager of Student Life. I love what I do, and I am beyond excited about what this year has in store for our student body. While the importance of student life relative to student success is generally recognized and understood, most people have their own idea about what the term itself actually means. People often assume I am an event planner, but, whi le they aren’t wrong, they aren’t looking at the bigger picture. H A Recipe for Student Life Student Life in and of itself is about more than just events; it is about the overall quality of our students lives, and our student body as a whole. Our Student Life team works hard to plan events and activities that pertain to student interests, but our role in student life is only one piece of the puzzle. If we look at the student body as just that – a body – we can get a better idea of how student life affects us as a whole. In the same way that a body is made up of living particles, our student body is made up of students, and it is our goal to improve the life of the student body by bettering the lives of each individual student. This is no easy task, as each one of us has a unique personality, with different interests, needs, and passions. To maintain a healthy lifestyle we need a balanced diet that contributes to the many different needs of our body; student life is not all that different. This year our aim is to diversify our events to appeal to more of our student body. When it all comes down to it, you will get from your college experience what you put into it. We are doing our best to contribute to student life and the lives of our students, but the real question is: What are you going to do to get the most from your college experience?
