The 2013/14 Student Association Board of Directors (L-R): Endurance Uadia, Danielle Cameron, Matt McLaren, Cadence Gillis, Ruth Lau-MacDonald, Scarlett Berry and Daniel Beals. Student Association Board of Directors 2013/14 report It’s my pleasure to be the Chair of the Student Association Board of Directors this year. The Board of Directors and I look forward to being the Voice of the Students. This year we have Directors studying in the School of Health Sciences (Danielle Cameron and Cadence Gillis), the School of Community Services (Ruth Lau-MacDonald), the School of Applied Science and Computing (Endurance Uadia), and the School of Business (Daniel Beals, Matt McLaren and myself ). I feel that with this diversity, we can have a broad reach on the student population. The Board has shown a great amount of dedication and enthusiasm by eagerly identifying and taking advantage H ello and welcome back to all St. Lawrence College students, new and returning! of opportunities presented to us. In the past two months we have approved operational expenses of over $20,000, reviewed and approved the purchase of a new seating installation on the fourth floor of the orange wing and successfully built teams of Directors for three of our most important sub-committees. I am unbelievably excited to be working with this group of people to help meet our major goals for the Student Association this year. We are planning on having a more open means of two-way communication - meaning that we will be actively seeking your feedback on many things like orientation week, events and activities or what you feel the SA should be focusing on in order to enhance student life both on and off campus while still giving you good value for your money. We will be working on assessing the feasibility of a new student space. We recognize that there is not enough student space on campus, and we want to come up with some ideas to help combat this ongoing issue. We would love your feedback on the matter - you can contact us by emailing [email protected], setting up a meeting with us at the front desk of the SA or by meeting with the Operations Team. We will be developing strategies for gaining feedback this year and your participation is one of the best ways to make sure your voice is heard. We’re looking forward to lots of positive change in the future, and we can’t do it without your help! Have a great year SLC, Scarlett Berry www.SAvoiceSLC.com | Student Association of St. Lawrence College September 2013 SA Voice 5
