to throw up. So, Wanda contacted me ahead,
and I had my iPad all set up and was (secretly)
filming on my phone, and all of a sudden she
was like “Ready?” And I was like “Um…?”
And then there was Noriaki Sugiyama in my
face and I suddenly forgot all the basic Japa-
nese I knew because I was like “Wait, should I
address them as my superiors? Will I sound
stupid if I respond in Japanese?”.
They don’t really speak English, so I sort of just
stared at Noriaki (omg, I’m so sorry Sasuke, for-
give me!) and nodded. He just said “Yoroshiku
onegaishimasu”. And I totally choked and was
like “…”.
So, then Wanda moved over to Junko, (they
were standing outside of the studio, just, liter-
ally standing there, and so friendly and to me,
these are major celebrities, but they were just
professional and super humble), I am pretty
sure I went out of my body. She spoke in Eng-
lish and said something like “I am Junko
Takeuchi” and I basically screamed “I
KNOW!”. I was an idiot. I forget if I was able
to say something directly to her (Wanda was
translating for everyone) but if I did, I think it
was just about the script, and maybe she said
“good luck” to me in Japanese and did the kind
of “fighting” hand gesture with two thumbs up!
I also talked to Nakamura-san, who had been
in a bunch of anime that fall and who I’ve had
a crush on for YEARS, and so I was just… and
he was funny because he pointed at the screen
and went “Oh, is she there?”.
I do recall that after everyone introduced
themselves, Wanda asked if I had anything
I wanted to tell them, and I didn’t want to
fangirl and be like “Omg Naruto is my life,
my dream!”. So, I just thanked them and said
I’d admired them for so long and that their
work had really meant so much to me and
inspired me and that I thought it was such
an honor they agreed to be a part of the
project, and they seemed really moved, and
then she asked if there was anything else,
and I said “Omg I could go on forever, but I
don’t want to fangirl all over them and I
know you’re on a tight schedule” and they
kinda laughed, which was such a thrill.
In conclusion, easily probably the most
amazing moment in my life and I’m so glad I
filmed some of it, which I shouldn’t admit,
so I have that part of us talking as well as
the beginning part of the recording. She let
me watch the first three or four scenes,
which was… omg so amazing. I got to see
them in the booth, doing their lines or swit-
ching up the voices. Originally Junko/Kaito
had a very deep tone of voice, but they
wanted it aged down (I kinda liked it tho),
and we had Noriaki sound a bit more as-
sertive but not… mean… I had very speci-
