HOW FRIENDLY WERE THEY WITH
YOU?
Oh, I guess I answered this. VERY! Very
friendly, super humble, super professional,
and Nakamura-san was funny, just as you’d
imagine!
IN YOUR OPINION, DO THEY USUAL-
LY HAVE A LOT OF CHEMISTRY
WHEN THEY ARE WORKING TO-
GETHER?
The actors? Well, I only got to see a few
scenes being recorded, but yes, I’m sure af-
ter years of working together Junko and
Noriaki know how to work with each oth-
er and Nakamura-san (I can’t call him by his
first name, I’m so enamored) is such a pro
that he could have chemistry with a potted
plant. But, no. Honestly. Like… I was nerv-
ous about some stuff even though I trusted
Wanda implicitly and I had felt the director
and I were on the same page about a lot of
stuff (via things Wanda told me), but when I
received the CD, I was honestly
FLOORED by the quality of acting, by the
delivery, by the sounds, the cuts… I mean,
it’s not often something I’m a part of turns
out BETTER than I anticipated, but yes, I
wouldn’t have tweaked a whole lot as it
was, and I didn’t know Kurama (Tessho
Genda) would be there at the end of the
CD. That was a freaking surprise! I was so
honored and then I was so touched by his
comments at the end during the actor com-
mentary.
WERE THERE CONDITIONS FOR
THEM TO GIVE THEIR VOICES
WITHOUT PROBLEM?
So, what I can say is that I was made aware
Junko could not be associated with BL or
shounen-ai, so that’s why obvious romance
between male characters was a big no-no.
Junko and Noriaki were an easy go as was
Namikawa-san (Oikawa from Haikyuu!!)
because I believe Noriaki is a part of Nami-
kawa-san’s own agency so they sort of
come as a set, and Rie Kugimiya was proba-
bly a definite from the beginning, too. I was
always just “Wow, we can really get these
people?” I never pried into exactly what
Wanda did out there, but… girl’s got some
connections.
