I have been enchanted by this novel since seventh grade when my English teacher read it to her small class. I'm not a huge fan of King's novels, but this one has quickly become one of my favorites!
-Read this if you are looking for a tale of pure imagination. Castles, princes, dragons, wizards and true love make this book a dark, fairytale
The Eyes of The Dragon by Stephen King
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
Another book that has warmed my heart. I first read this book in the fifth grade. I was immediately consumed by the darker romance between the star-crossed lovers. I love the focal point of the novel, when love is true it knows no boundaries.
-Read this if you are an avid romance reader. If you are worried about not being able to understand Shakespeare's words don't fret, there are now copies available in modern day English.
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
I would be lying if I had said I wasn't a huge fan of Fitzgerald's work. I recently spent over a hundred dollars purchasing his novels that Penguin Publishing released this year! I personally do not believe a reading list is complete without a novel or two penned by Fitzgerald.
-Read this even if you have seen the movie. While I applaud the film it is nothing compared to the written word that Fitzgerald himself wrote so long ago! This novel has it all: love, sorrow and heartbreak.
Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
Most of us probably have read Black Beauty as children. I did. I think I was only seven when I read the novel and fell in love with midnight-colored horses. I had my own black steed for many years growing up.
-Read this even if you have already read the novel once or in my case probably over a hundred times since it was first given to me by my mom. This novel teaches us that we all could be a little kinder, a little wiser and to cherish those that love us. Black Beauty is written from a horse's point of view, but I think we could all learn to be a little more graceful just like Beauty and his friends.
