What’s new is that Cristina has more parts on this album, it’s typical of them to sing both Cristina and Andrea, but this time we can hear her singing alone in “Hostage to the Light”, “Cybersleep” and “One Cold Day” and how she’s singing…! The first one, without a doubt, is my favorite song of the album “Now this is who you are, angel in the night, singing in the skies… Don’t wonder why, even never try to… Believe in yourself, become a hostage to the light”. But for exchange, “Cybersleep” and “One Cold Day” incorporates some atmospheric bases and melodies, it’s pretty much like their first albums and that’s what fans were all waiting for. 3 Sonata Arctica – “Pariah’s Child” Sonata Arctica returns with their new studio album, a very good one with a fresh touch and some experimental traces in some songs. If their previous work “Stones Grow Her Name” left you with some bittersweet taste, this one will gladly surprise you. “The Wolves Die Young” is the first single and I’d describe it as everything that Sonata represents and reminds us to their early works: vibrant melodies, ferocious guitars, and the sublime vocals from Tony. “This “Victims”, “Die and Rise” y “I forgive (But I won’t forget your name)” keep the same pattern, fast verses, bombastic and catchy chorus’ but with a cinematic approach in the instrumentation; while “Infection”, “I Burn In You” and “In The End I Feel Alive” show some complicity between both singers, catchy melodies and guitars everywhere. In short words, the vocal level of both singers keeps up and it’s being shown through all the songs in a very catchy and incredible way. All the songs have a very good rhythm along with the post-apocalyptic vibe. The record is made to be listened from the first until the last song without skipping anything. Broken Crown Halo goes one step forward from what Dark Adrenaline achieved, it’s not a Dark Adrenaline 2.0, it’s a humble heir where both singers shine, and music’s ambient reminds us of their early records (ethereal melodies, voice modulation by Cristina, Andrea’s growls…) It’s a must have-record for those of you who like good music. Broken Crown Halo comes out April 1st by Century Media Records. Score: 9/10 is the day when the wolves die young; they’ll never see a new midnight sun”. “Running Lights” is a very fast song, in which Tony shows his vocal ability at its best: the chorus is pretty much symphonic and melodic carried away by some guitar base that keeps raising the rhythm. After these two songs we’ll already notice that this record sounds more like ““Days of Grays”. “Take One Breath” follows the same pattern, faster if you ask me, the guitar work is incredible, although the keyboard/symphonic part is left aside until the bridge. Next one, “Cloud Factory”, is a very experimental song where the band shows that they’ve been playing a little bit with some sounds that would work with their trademark. The chorus is the catchiest thing that we’ll find on the album and it even has this “Mago de Öz” vibe, funny. “Blood” is a hymn that 5
